Visit from Grandparents

It is always a treat when Grandparents come for a visit. Henry's parents drove up on a Friday. Grandpa had to leave on Sunday to go back to work but Grandma stayed until Thursday. We had a lot of fun and here are some pictures.

Addison's eating really took off the week that Grandma was in town. We met Henry for lunch at Jason's deli one afternoon and Addison discovered that she loves ice cream cones. She was a sticky mess after we left but I was thrilled because it was the first time we had ever witnessed her eat that much. I was so disapointed to find out that it was low fat ice cream. Things have really changed in my life since now find myself comparing nutrition labels for foods with high calories and fat for Addison.

Addison loves to read books and quickly discovered the Grandma was always happy to read her whatever book she brought over to her.

Endoscopy

Per the anesthesiologist's instructions, I woke up Addison early on the day of her endoscopy for milk. She would not drink from her bottle so we went outside to see if she would take it from a cup (nope, not interested in that either mom). Our neighbor had cleared out some toys from their playroom and left them on our doorstep, which was a really nice morning surprise.

The nurse in the day surgery area could tell that Addison was not going to be entertained by books or little toys while we waited for her endoscopy so she let us leave our little hospital room and go play for 20 minutes in the lobby until they were ready for us. She was a very wise nurse and it was nice to let her run free rather than trying to keep her from destroying the surgery recovery room.

This is picture was taken the night of the endoscopy. It is a little blurry but it shows off her "boo boo" from when she stepped in a hole in the yard and went face first into a friend's bicycle.

Summer Babies Birthday

Addison and I love to get out of the house and hang out with other kids and their moms. We belong to a playgroup that was set-up for babies born in 2007. All of the kids with birthdays in June, July and August had a huge pool party celebration. Addison was one of the few kids who refused to touch her cupcake. Unfortunately, that meant I was stuck with the task of finishing her cupcake (as well as eating my own).

Addison was not interested in touching the cupcake, but she enjoyed observing all of the other chaos.

She loves the baby wading pools. It is quite shocking to me, but she loves to go under water. She gets a big smile on her face and then just sits down. She had a big smile on her face while she is underwater and comes up with a big smile on her face.

More of the 4th

We had a great day on the 4th of July. First, we went to a friend's house for barbecue and swimming. It was Henry's first time to take Addison swimming and they had a great time. In the evening, we were invited to enjoy more barbecue, fun activities and fireworks at a friend's neighborhood (this is not just a "normal" neighborhood but more of a community, where people drive their golf carts around, have tennis tournaments, put on their own amazing firework display, etc.). Addison really liked the petting zoo they had for the kids. Addison is very fascinated by animals--especially dogs. She loves to see dogs from far away and pretend to bark but is a little leary of them close up. She really enjoyed the lazy little goats in the petting zoo.

Addison was not too sure she liked the giant llamas.
